Follow a 7 man team of pilots and flight sim enthusiasts in Coventry as we fly a 747 Jumbo Jet simulator around the world 24/7 for one week. We will fly 45,000 miles visiting 45 destinations raising money for the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance. We are flying online using real weather, charts, flightplans & full ATC from VATSIM all alongside 6 other official teams and hundreds of flight simulator users from across the globe.

A Message from Hoppie ...
Just a brief note from the guy that could not be there.
Just as John, but one year shorter, I have been involved in WorldFlight for quite a while. In 2000 and 2001, I observed the phenomenon with rising interest, but considered myself too immature to even think aboutparticipating. In 2002, I was on top of it, but could not participate as there was no real flight sim nearby (and I do not consider a desktop sim a real one). It took until 2003 before I could fly out to Sydney and get immersed.
I have been doing WorldFlight in one form of another ever since, and the last years in John's team in Coventry.
Why not this year, then? Because of WorldFlight!
It went like this. Both for the Oz and the Coventry team, I have been building simulator software and for the complete WorldFlight group, I provide some networking simulations that tie everybody together. This all grew out of my hobby, which always involved a combination of electronics and software. Simulators are great combinations of electronics and software.
It all went okay until about two years ago. Then I got approached by a company that considered real aircraft to be great combinations of electronics and software. Well, yes. They are. So, why don't you come over and join us? Well. Yes. Why not?
I just had to move to Miami. Well. Yes. Why not?
So, since two months I am here, in Miami. The weather is great, I have not yet been shot at, and indeed, real aircraft are great combinations of electronics and software. I am now doing for a job what I had been doing for WorldFlight, but the customers are "slightly more demanding." And this is the direct reason that this year, I do not participate with the Coventry
team, unfortunately.
However, under the hood I still do the same stuff, and I am proudly wearing the only Flight Engineer title in the whole WorldFlight group!
Hoppie
